Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

My boys just watched The Last Stand..... hard to see an aged Arnold ....... the effects of having watched The Termintor the week before. Kids know him from the his limited scenes in the Expedables.  Have yet to find Conan on DVD. One day.

Flipping through the channels today one had Rambo first blood part 2, watched the last 15min or so. Wife said his bod looked much nicer on this one than the most recent. IT WAS thirty years ago Lol! The last one I thought was pretty grafic, guess I forgot about the guy he shot with his bow by a waterfall that exploded/disintegrated in this one.

Not a current movie, not sure if you all rated this one when it was out. But Big Boy came home with Unfriended and we watched that. That's an hour and a half I'll never get back. he actually apologized for renting it. I was wanting a good thriller, all I got was whiney teenagers.

On one of my first dates, with someone new ,many decades ago( ok-not so many) we saw "First Blood ( no.1 I guess). I hadn't seen Rocky yet and there was a scene where (of course) Sly has his shirt off and the cops are hosing him down and I just said "Wow, look at the body on that guy." I thought I said it in my mind but apparently from all the turned heads and laughs, I said it quite loudly. He looked like he was carved from marble. " Be still my raging heart!!!"

I miss the days when I still had some hormones.. Now I just embarrass my family when I am eyeballing waiters or bus boys - hey some are really hot.

I should mention I live a couple miles from Jim Peterik who Sly asked to write a song for his next movie (Years ago) and he coauthored 'EYE OF THE TIGER."

Jim put on a great (free) show at the elementary school (again ages ago) and did "Vehicle " (one my all time favorites). "Eye of the Tiger," etc. I was just mesmerized. I had accidentally sat in the middle of the first row - no body had arrived yet, and no one asked me to move. So I had the best seat in the house. Felt like he was performing just for me.

Ah, an old woman's memories- fit to print.

I hear ya.

As for the expl-disintegration.....that level of violence is unnecessary to good story telling. Turns me off. I was happy my boys loved School of Rock and didnt miss the blood n gore.

I don't mind it, just was a little surprised when I watched 2008 Rambo a few yrs ago, it was very realistic, and very graphic, and lot's of it. I at the time didn't think the older ones were like that, haven't watched them in yrs, guess I was wrong.
Still haven't watched 2006 Rocky. Didn't hear of Creed until I read it here, looked it up, can't wait to see that one. I'll have to look and see if I can find the last Rocky.

Just saw a commercial for a follow on to Independence day. Loved that movie! The speech at the end makes the hair on my neck stand up! "... We will not go quietly into the night..." Looking fwd to the sequel. Will most likely see that one in a theater vice waiting for the DVD.
