Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

I watched "Last Vegas" with De Niro, Kline, Freeman, Michael Douglas and Mary Steenburgen. I liked it. It was about these 4 blokes who go to Las Vegas for a bachelor party when Michael Douglas' character is going to marry this girl. The cast made the movie. Those actors could make a documentary about washing dishes worth watching.

Sorry to hear that Sour, so many bad movies. We were going to see the new Kong thing but none of the area shows have it early in the day.(cheaper pricing) They are pushing Imax 3D or just 3D in the best time slots. Not paying that much for a movie we may hate except for adorable Tom Hiddleston.

I watched one called "Lucy". It's got Scarlett Johanssen (sp?) and Morgan Freeman. It's a sci-fi where Lucy gets fed this mind-expanding drug. Morgan is a professor brain specialist. It was an interesting enough premise for a movie, but it was all a bit far-fetched and too much gory violence for my taste. It was ok, worth watching, but I wouldn't rave about it. Some good special effects, and I love Morgan Freeman, so worth a look. The french actor who played a cop was also good.

For "Guardian's of the Galaxy," fans I found several different "GROOT" figures at the Disney store in a shopping mall. (Chicago Ridge) I never went in before but, they had a sign about Groot so I HAD to check it out. I got a really cute stuffed Groot (small) and I love it.

Funny Disney wasn't expecting the movie to do that well and had no tie in's to toys etc. This time they have the toys and I checked on ebay & amazon and they have even more. But a lot are coming from Asia, and high dollar prices. No thanks. Who knows if you would even get the product, or if it would break right away.

Funny thing though I checked the Disney store website and NO mention of Groot. Also other characters are just very small figurines. This time around they realized Groot is the real draw- especially since he is a baby this time around.

I think they didn't know how to finish it off.
Yes, it sort of degenerated into more and more silliness. Still, even if flawed, I'd rather watch a movie that has an interesting idea and good cast, than a rehash of something that's "safe" because it's been made millions of times before.

Groot's the only one I've heard of. I've never seen the movies, but people have mentioned him.

"Guardians of the Galaxy," sounded ridiculous to me - okay really sounded lame. But got to like - a talking raccoon, a talking tree (Old Groot),, space aliens - actually turned out to be a lot of fun. The second one comes out May 5 this year. with Baby Groot (explained in the first movie)
