Hey, deedee, Princess took me to the movies for Fathers Day. We saw "The Book of Henry". I'll go a 2.5 and the Princess 2.75 stars. Glad I had a clean handkerchief as it made her a bit weepy.

I went to see "wonder woman" yesterday. I enjoyed it. Good cast, lovely cinematography, good story, good action/special effects.

Woman Wonder herself was getting mean remarks that she was too small on top. She said Amazon Women used to cut off a breast , so it wouldn't affect their use of bow & arrow . Actually I thought she was busty. Maybe they meant she wasn't all plumped up with silicon like many of the other actresses.

Seriously, some of the discussion I've seen is ridiculous. There was more to the role than her physique and she did a good job with it, IMO. She was also really good in the action scenes, lots of running and acrobatics.

Netflix seems pretty excited about having landed Disney's Moana. so with BB2K's encouragement, I checked it out. Can you stand a review of a Disney family feature?

What they are doing with CG animation is amazing. If you watch the credits, they had separate teams just for the water and the hair, and it shows - great work.

Be warned - the songs are almost guaranteed earworms. I still have "You're Welcome" playing in my head - who knew Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson could sing?

The writing is pretty clever - lots of great lines.

Moana - why are you acting weird?
Gramma - I'm the village crazy lady. That's my job.

Moana - . . . I am not a princess. I am the daughter of a chief.
Maui - Same difference.
Moana - No.
Maui - if you wear a dress, and you have an animal sidekick, you're a princess.

If you can stand one more variation of "strong willed girl who saves the world by not listening to her father," it's a fun movie.

Can you stand a review of a Disney family feature?

For sure, I love those animated movies. I took my "bunny girl" to see the Dory movie, it was a good movie, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I recently watched "Despicable Me" which was also a good one. I saw the preview for Moana and it looked good, did it also get mentioned on one of the award shows? I seem to remember seeing it.

Moana was given Acadamy Award nominations for Best Original Song ("How Far I'll Go") and Best Animated Feature, but didn't win either category (With competition like Zootopia, no disgrace in that).

Kudos to the animators for making Polynesian characters that look like Polynesians, not Barbie dolls (anybody remember the flap over Pocahontas?) All of the voice actors were of Polynesian descent, too. But as with anything Disney, while the story line borrowed from South Pacific myths and culture, it did a lot of wandering away from the source material, too. As entertainment, it gets high marks, but scores a bit lower on education value.

Bunny thanks for your review - I used to see most of the Disney stuff but, now that my brother drives me to theaters - he has to agree on what we see. Plus with tickets costing more I have to make a lot of cuts.

In the olden days -my AMC used to have shows in the morning, that ended early enough for me to ride the senior bus. Mostly older people came for those so I fit in just right. Plus they were bargain rate tickets.

Then the chain got sold and no early shows except on weekend. Senior bus doesn't run on weekends. It was sure nice while it lasted. I used to go nearly every Friday.

PS didn't know he could sing - will wonders ever cease?
