Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

Today we saw "Judy". Renee Zellweger as Judy Garland is exceptional, but I didn't really like the movie overall. I'll go 2.5 stars and the Princess will go 3.5 - primarily because of Zellweger's personification of 'Judy'.
Judy Garland was a complex subject. I will watch the movie when it is released to streaming or dvd

A couple of nights ago, i went to see Downton Abbey. I loved the series and saw it through a few times with my Aunty who also loved it. I was ready to love the movie, but I'm sorry to say it wasn't good :( it was very pretty, but the writing was awful. I thought Cousin Isabel was true to character and so was Robert Crawley, but the other characters were very one-dimensional.

There was one overarching plot, very lightly treated, and many other little plots. Inevitably, the action was spread very thin. I felt like it was a whole series of plots squeezed into a couple of hours. Highclere itself was strongly featured and everything was very beautiful. Shame about the writing.

No chickens spotted.

Two stars. One of the prettiness and one for the nostalgia.
