I live in a neighborhood of 7 homes on 2-3 acre lots in a rural community 3-4 miles from the nearest town.
The younger neighbors all desire having our own chickens for all the reasons people here understand. When the community was developed by a local landowner 20 years ago specific restrictions were put into homeowner's restrictions including no 'farm animals, bees, chickens...'
As we work on our proposal to amend these restrictions (we can do with majority) we would like suggestions or examples of proposals others have put forth for similar communities.

The city ordinances out there are helpful but we will not be dealing with all those zoning issues, and do not desire health department visits, permits, etc.... although the developer's descendant who lives in the community will continue to have power to approve all structures erected on our properties.

Thank you for your help!

I think you guys can make it what you want it to be. I like the suggestion to check out the Laws and Ordinances section, some may post examples of those and/or applications. I did have to apply to keep fowl on property through local planning commission who makes determination. The application that is signed also is consent and acknowledgment of laws and ordinances in writing. Mine addresses number per acreage, number of hens, does not allow Roos, denotes specifics on required structure, location on property, and requirement to remove in 90 days if cease caring for chickens. Consequences if found in violation mean the owner will be required to cease caring for fowl immediately upon notification. Good Luck!
