After I recived 1 week old ameraucana chicks, i found a lot of people said that when they were chicks they are very skiddish. worried this would affect there adult behavior i started to spend at least 10 min just dangling my arm into the brooder. I'm very happy to say that only after 6 DAYS they are very friendly and enjoy my company!! horah!

Welcome to BYC!

Oh absolutely! The more familiar they become with you, the less nervous of you they are. And get them out of the brooder and onto the living room floor with you. This will really help to bond them up to you. Sit on the floor with them and they will see you as momma and get on your lap and learn to trust you.

Good luck with your new chicks and welcome to our flock!

I find if you make high piched 'bok bok' noises, like mamma would to show them what food to eat, and drop food at their feet, it takes very little time before they see you as mamma and then become very friendly. Now if I put my hand in the cage and run it round they run after it like crazy things!! Lol!
