Basalt couldn’t hide the wheeze in his breathing anymore. He let himself collapse on the rocky ledge and tried not to pass out as he struggled for breath. He winced, eyes shut, as his body sent continual waves of pain through his system. Still, he tried to get his talons under himself so he could face the tyrannical lizard again.
Current was totally lost. She thought siding with Apollyon was the right idea, the way to stop the fighting; the more he talked to them, the wilder his eyes seemed to get. She had been inching away from him all the while, but fully backed up to where Storm and Vixen were when the lightning struck. It sent a humming wave down her spine, and that’s when she realized she hadn’t been breathing and took a gasping breath. Her talons were clenched into the stone as she watched Basalt land with a heavy thump onto the ledge he was flung. Her eyes flew back and forth from him to Apollyon.
“Ap- Apollyon- no!” She shouted.
