ok...mine is about Sears.
We bought a washer, dryer and a lawn tractor (we were setting up the farm!) Because we ere buying things from 2 departments, the staff just could not work out how to do it all. On top of that they suggested we get a Sears Card (which we did) to take advantage of the interest free period.
We filled in all the paperwork (a card for each of us) and made the purchases...after lots of canceling card transactions and us ending up buying some things with our other non-Sears card etc.
On the delivery day the driver asked where we wanted our THREE lawn tractors
We should have known something was serious wrong then.
A credit card bill arrived for me and we paid it off. No card arrived for Mrs Geoaware. After few months we called...and they said no card existed in her name so we thought that in the process her application must have canceled.
Six months later the collection calls started! Every darn day (and twice on Sunday) Sears must be a good Christian firm wanting to ensure that they took their payments between church services.
Seems they DID have a card for Mrs Geoaware...and it was overdue so long they sent it to collections...and yet we have already paid off all the purchases. They have NEVER tried to contact us...never a phone call or a letter.
Do you know how long it takes to stop the collection process?? WAY TOO LONG
Sears claimed that we owed them for lawn tractors (remember the three they wanted to deliver) etc etc etc
Bottom line, Sears refused to back down although we could provide all the paperwork that we had paid for all the items.
Sadly, we decided to pay off the balance just to get our credit score back on track....
SO..moral to the story...
NEVER open a store credit card when you are buying between departments
NEVER assume a large store, Like Sears, will treat you like a valued customer.....they make mistakes and yet YOU will pay for them
Big stores have all the time and all the $ to let you suffer.....and it costs too much to take them to court for your rights.
SEARS does not care..... don't believe an ounce of their advertising
So now, we buy everywhere else but Sears.
It really was not the people in the store e have a beef with...just the system.
