I noticed that one of my pullets has a cut on the top of her foot just before the place where a toe starts. It was bleeding and another chicken was pecking at it once in a while so I took her out and washed it and put a little pressure on it until it stopped bleeding. I held her a while and made sure it did not start again. There is definetly a small cut there and it is red which worries me that the other bird will peck at it again. Is there something I can put on it to discourage that from happening? Thanks for any advice.
In the mean time, keep her seperate. Don't let her come in contact with the other hens, they'll just make it worse by pecking. If you have iodine, rub a little of that on there to clean it until you get blu-cote. I sprayed it on my hen Gloria when she had a very bad leg scab, and it totally healed it. The blue stain wore off after about a month. Praying for your little hen!
