Cute yellow fuzzlets

Sex links are able to be sexed as soon as the hatch because males ad females are a different color...has nothing to do with Wing sizes or anything. It's totally done based on color. A father of a certain color when bred with a hen of a certain color will make chicks that males and females are totally different colors...you can google to find out what male color and female color are mixed to get what. I can't ever remember.

It's the only early sexing method that is 100%, 100% of the time

As far as I know you cannot sex a chicken by the way it looks (except some breeds will have roosters with alternating feather lengths, check no later than 4 days old) you would need to check if they have a bump in the vent and even that is not 100%.

You are correct about feather sexing. Most lines of Commercial white leghorns and a couple lines of Cornish X have been introduced with a gene that lets you sex the chick 24 hours after they hatch solely on the length of the wing feathers on the bird. This method is only accurate until the wing feathers pop out of their pin-like coating. So, about 2 days. If you look at the Primaries and the cover of feather pins above of the primaries, you will see the difference. In males, both sets of feathers are the same length. In females, the primaries are longer then the covering layer.

Yes that part about feather sexing is true, but it isn't the only early method I what I was getting at...

Question if we have several different chickens for example most are wyndotte and we have 2 domeneckers plus 2 white chickens. When the chickens hatch wouldnt they be 1 of the 3 breed we already have?

so far they are all doing fine, starting to sleep with the older girls at night but stay apart the rest of the time. The duck is a nut and I am glad to have her. Feel blessed they are all females.

The lighter one in the center is her. My son fed them on the picnic table
