Whoops, chicken math... Went to the feed store to get a bag of starter feed and they'd gotten a new shipment of chicks this morning - including some of the breeds we'd originally wanted but were sold out of.

So now we're welcoming Rose the Cherry Egger and Lucy the Easter Egger! Lucy is from Lucy Steele in Sense and Sensibility to fit with our Austen theme (see a few posts up). Rose is just because I'm dying for cute pink eggs!

kids come up with the funniest names! when my brother was little we each got to name a cat and he got a white one with a black spot on its head and he named it "poophead" that poor cat lived about ten years with that name and she even came to it when you called her.

My 3 year old brother named his chicken Stupid Poo Poo. That chick's name is now Snowball, she's our best laying hen.

Mrs Maurice - My daughter wanted to name one Maurice so when I told her they were girls she changed it to Mrs.

Buffy - was Puffy but the toddler kept misspronouncing it and it stuck.

Peggy - same as above. Mispronounced 'Pecky'

Red - we ran out of ideas and she is 'red'. *shrugs*
