8 adults, 6 chicks, oops, I mean 7...
We have......
Sammy (God)
Hens-
* Peggy Jean (started as Peggy Sue, but PJ sounds better than PS when I called her. lol)
Turkey Jane (an elderly turkin who still lays the occasional egg!)
* Aunt Bea
* Molly (started life as "13", name changed when I saw she'd make it after I had to help her out of the shell)
Winifred (Winnie)
Mimi
Cutie-pie
* Crowella Deville (AKA "Raven-a HUGE black shiny hen)
Bubbles
Freckles
Lizzy
Annie
Mary (3 white sisters)
and the last one...
Puzzle
Named by the wife.... which brings us back to how 6 chicks turned into 7. Welp, 4 of the 13 eggs were (we thought) boys, and we got them a new home no problem. but... 2 weeks later, we were over there and they asked us if we wanted our hen back. lol She had us fooled, high comb, fighting with the boys, etc.
But sure enough, she's a she. It was a bit of a challenge to get her BACK into the chick's little flock though, as they were apprehensive, and of course, a WHOLE new pecking order had to come about! But I introduced her slowly, and then put her up on their roost that night, (after 'disguising' her as PJ with a few squirts of purple, and the next morning, all was well!
* = named by me, kids and grandkids named the rest.
