Hello All,
My name is Lacey and I recently bought two ducklings; each about 8 days old. I have done ALOT of research on them but want to make sure Im doing everything right. I am feeding them gamebird food and have them in a large rubbermade container using wood shavings on the bottom. I use a duck feeder, the water is not deep but seep enough to clear their nose. They are very happy and live to chase after my kids. I have one Khaki Campell(Dash)and one Pekin(Nerf). Oh I also have a heat lamp above one part of the brooder to kep them warm but also so they can move out of the heat if need be.
The couple questions I have are how can I cut down on the smell in my house? I change, wash, dry and clean the brooder daily but come home from work and it is awful.
Another thing is that I change the beddig daily but always seems to be wet and the lay it it. Willl they get sick if it isnt always dry? I know they love to play in it but scared they will get sick laying in damp bedding.
Last question is where to get duck diapers? I want them to hangout around the hoyse without watching their every move to see if they pooped. I have seen a few duckling diaper sites but say not to buy them after they are a week old. I really want to get some though!!
Thanks,
Lacey, Dash and Nerf
