OK, I have see a lot of Strange things with hatching but this one has me COMPLETELY puzzled.

Three baby ducks all died in there shell, They never internally pipped. When opened them up, they have deep cuts on there backs.

I'm assuming perhaps bacteria got into there cuts and possibly killed them. My question:

How could they have gotten these Cuts??? They never internally pipped, so they were still inside there Membrane???

Never cracked the shell so it couldn't have cut them. They are Not dried seemed perfectly Normal all fully absorbed.

Has anyone had this problem before???

Yes, they are all 1 day past there due date.. I'm puzzled, perhaps where the eggs came from? To much in breeding, or perhaps a large duck breed with a smaller duck and they were to Large>

I don't know ANY THOUGHTS would be GREAT!!!

Did you notice if the spine was intact? Or was this a soft tissue issue only? Are they actual cuts or is it where the tissue hadn't properly closed (missing spine/vertebrae)? A zinc deficiency can cause spinal / vertebral issues.. but that's usually a cause of rumplessness with the lower spine affected more so than the upper spine. ..

Was the remaining tissue showing signs of rot?

Here's a pic of one of them.

No all looks very fresh...

Peach my vet just emailed me back he said it could be cause from rough handling during incubating growth phase which could be from them being shipped.... or genetic defect...
