I thought I would make a privacy fence with lilacs and found they were pretty easy to start from cuttings then I got busy cutting a flower bush in the front yard to see if it would grow from cuttings. It did,but I am not sure what kind it is. It makes the largest round flowers I have ever seen. Tell me what you have grown from a cutting.

Need pictures of your flowering bush to identify it . I am also interested in cuttings . Mine always fail . Going to try setting up a DIY mist system . Only cuttings I can do are coleus , tomato and peppers . Ground layering works for me on lilac .

i propagate by cuttings quite a lot. i use vermiculite in a covered container which is in a window sill. and dip cuttings in homemade rooting hormone liquid made from weeping willow branches which are boiled down. That willow liquid works exactly like rooting hormone. Plants that always seem to do well as cuttings are sage, petunias, hyssop, gardenias, tomatoes, and rosemary. For most trees i enjoy doing air layering instead. :}
