Cy Hyde's Birds

Tommy, I did a random selection of hens for body to tail length ratios. My BBR line scored the highest overall. 1/2 pure RJF x SDRJF had a 6inch body 7inch tail. The next 4 hens are from an F5 SDrjf selected for long tails crossed on pure phoenix hens...6in x 10 1/8, 6x 9 1/2, and the cock feathered hen is at 6x12 1/2.
From the whites I measured 1 original hatchery stock hen and 3 hatchery stock x private breeders pullets.. hatchery was 6 1/2 x7, the daughters are... 5x 7 1/8, 5 1/2 x 7 5/8, 6 x 7 5/8,
and 6 1/2 x 7 I'll try and get accurate weights on them ,but their appears to be a significant (at least a lb.) difference between the whites and BBR whites being the more petite. NAPA

Napa,

Oh wow. Some of your hens have a 7 inch body with 12 inch tails? Wow! Thats like, extreamly cool and rare huh? Well, did you have a chance to take pixs of those?

I won't what you BEST would look like. Perhaps tail being 2x body length huh? My hen is only 2 inch short of having tail-length 2x body length.

Keep in touch Buddy

Not sure how to put this with out someone taking it the wrong way. But Here goes anyways. I have spent 5 years starting at the bottom with 2 hatchery males. I have not bought, traded, or finagled any of my lines. It has taken over 1000 chicks selecting, culling, growing, and praying that I kept the right ones. Chris Archer ( counselor 5, )Casey (China Chicks,) Eggchel and Casey (Frizzle rooster ) Have taught me alot and been major supporters of my programs. I'll not post individual birds pics as there are people who do know where I house and keep my birds. All the birds referenced here are on either my web site or in my photo bucket. I have shared info with others that has taken me countless hours to find. Or I've learned it the hard way. I know there are better birds than mine out there but did 'YOU' breed them? OR did you buy birds / eggs from the big boys? When a person works from the ground up their is a certain pride and prejudice that goes with it. Toni, David and Cy are to be respected , someday perhaps I will be too

Amen sister! Thats exactly why I said you had some of the best around, you started from scratch and worked your way to the top, which not alot of people can say they did. You know exactly how to do it and its a shame there arent more breeders out there that can do it just like you nowadays. You know you are a wonderful person in my book and always will be. And you as well have helped countless people with things, so dont give everyone else all the credit either. Kudos to you JJ for everything.

J.J.,
You are right, working from the bottom up is sure hard and demanding. You have to put a lot of time and effort in which, in the end, or right now, you see your result: Beautiful and well respected birds.
I agree, Casey too, and I bet a lot of others do see that its not having the BEST birds that counts, but having the good history of how you got their goodness out of them.

If luckily, I run off with a LOT of nm chicks for my first batch, I would be happy, but not too proud because they aren't really MY work, per say, even though I did spent time and effort searching for the best to buy, it doesn't conclude anything, know what I am saying?

Unless after lets say, the 5th generation if I can somehow breed out 1/2 of all chicks being nm, then that can be something to be proud of. Unfortunately, I started late, so the promise of continuation of all this might not be too good. I am on my 3rd year @ UCSD, if everything goes as planned, I will be out of my house in just a year, or two and there goes everything. @ least, for the next 6 years...? Haha

So again, I am proud of J.J. getting so far from just two. Thats REALLY amazing and of course, getting some birds from J.J. would mean something to me too : )
