Cyprus' Chat Thread

Okay, genetics folks. Is this, or is it not, a "Mille Fleur Orpington". I know the answer but Lord give me patience, I've been trying to educate the poster for hours and they still think he is MF.

Looks like a messed up cuckoo pattern to me.
She was adamant that the chick was not expressing mottling, even though mom was jubilee and dad was blue mottled. If both parents are homozygous recessive for a gene, then all offspring will get that gene in homozygous form and thus express it.
She also even admitted that the chick is split for silver, yet insists it is mille fleur. Mille Fleur has no silver gene.

I was biting my tongue with her. She took the Kippen Calculator as gospel and just because it input "mille fleur" under the phenotype next to yellow/gold she took that as meaning it was mille fleur. :he

Well, it is what it is.
I enjoy teaching people about genetics, but I don't have the time nor the care to waste my breath on someone who is going to ignore my advice or fight me when it is clear they are wrong.
Don't get me wrong, I understand genetics is hard and not everyone understands something. But the moment you admit to your mistake, yet continue to insist you are right is the moment I turn and walk out the door.

You will never learn if you don't first admit to and accept making mistakes.
