Okay, I'm pretty sure the culprit is Cocci. Every chick that died was skin and bones despite having AMPLE food.
And the chicks were eating a ton more than normal in the last few days before some started dying. For eating so much, they lost a lot of weight.

I guess I can blame myself for not keeping close enough watch on them. But they hardly ever let me catch them and until this morning, when I found 2 dead, they didn't outwardly look sick.

One of the chicks is in ICU and is being intensely monitored. Corid drench, syringed water, body score of 1. Lethargy.

I'm not sure she'll make it, but I'm giving my all to try. Tube feeding supplies on standby, PenG on standby but prob won't use because she has literally no muscle mass to inject into.

Bright side of today: My frizzle Serama laid her first egg and she is FIERCE! Beware anyone within 2ft of her when she lays. I predict a future broodie. And yes, she will get eggs to hatch when she goes broody.

Update: 4 chicks have died. 2 cockerels, 2 pullets. Losing the pullets was a hard hit.

Fingers crossed and knock on wood, the rest appear fine. They are on very heavily medicated water and soon to be medicated feed.

I'm thinking of buying powder Corid and dusting their feed with it. Thoughts? A few chicks are eating but not drinking.

Cy, I'm concerned about the ones not drinking. I'm not a fan of wet feed, but if they'll eat it at least they're getting some hydration. I'm horrible at first aid.

I'll wet some feed.
I still feel horrible for not saving those 4, but it's not like I had any warning. And by the time I noticed they didn't look well, they were too far gone.

I at least believe in peaceful death with as little suffering as possible. One of the pullets got to experience grass and the sun (the other I was trying to save, so she didn't get to go outside). She was buried. The second was wrapped in a towel with a covered hand warmer for comfort during passing. Makes me feel better. I believe animals have souls.

The rest are on intense management and I'm doing all I can. I have a scale, tube feeding formula and supplies, and an ICU unit. Temps dropped last night and I had to scramble for a heat source. Chicks were all piled by it this morning. If I didn't have it, I'm sure they'd all be dead by now.
