D: What do I say?! (stupid Q)

Guess I am lucky. At our feed store they are Very helpful, and if they laugh at me, they at least wait until I have gone....(LOL, I KNOW I've given the guys at the local lumber yard a chuckle or two)

Well they aren't all experts.

Silly things I'm been told.

-Scratch is ok for chickens as the only food.
-Medicated food is ok for all ages.
-you can sex chicks by holding them upside down.
-you can eat eggs after worming, doesn't matter what with
-you don't have to worm chickens
-you can coop them in a dog kennel, that's safe enough

Well you've come the right place to ask these questions.
I'm lucky in that my local feed store has a big sign behind the counter that has all the feeds, sizes available and current prices.
Plus I ask if I have a question and let them show off their knowledge, it goes a long way in developing a relationship for times when I don't have a clue as to how to treat an ailment and they are there to help.

That looks exactly like the gamebird feed I use as scratch, but it's called Black Rooster here.
Last time I asked for two bags of layer pellets and two bags of layer crumbles. I've been feeding crumbles in my one coop because I was afraid that the silkies couldn't eat the pellets.
When I got home, I found that they had given me four bags of pellets, just two different brands. The one brand - Kent - is much smaller pellets than the other brand and my silkies have no trouble eating it. So now I just have to specify that I want that brand.

Sometimes you can request that they get in and keep in stock exactly what you want. Anticipating that I'm going to need a flockraiser type feed starting this weekend (when my broody hatches her chicks in the one coop) I called the feed store yesterday to request that they get some in from their main store/mill in Oklahoma. They'll have it in stock for me by Friday.

speckledhen: no, I have game chickens...No fighting what so ever.

They're all my babies
