I was on call all weekend, so I just got to this...

Have to admit, I really like the pied one - funny because before I had ducks, I wouldn't have liked the "splotchy" bill, now that is all more character. My wife thought the first one with the color and the fuzz looked like a pussy-willow

. Can't wait to find out who you choose tomorrow.
'on call all weekend' call ducks. heehee.

nonsensical i am, i know.

The lil' girl is settling into her new home! She was peeping up a storm (although she'd make happy chirps if she could see my face) but we got a mirror and she calmed down instantly. I think we're gonna be okay. <3

Gawd, I am weird!!

Actually, this is awesome & he did this just right. The babies are shrink wrapped (membranes have them dried into the shell) & need assistance to get out. I have had to do this many times when humidity was too low during hatch.

I was just typing a response to ask what he did wrong when your post was added, because I thought the guy did great! He checked for blood, had already cut a breather hole, and they apparently weren't getting out on their own, so he helped. I thought "what am I missing, what is so terrible?"

I agree with both of you... looks to me like he did nothing wrong, but maybe I missed something?

Often I can tell if they're viable at day 3 or 4, but I will usually leave them in few a few more days just in case. Glad you have some good one to work with.

I agree. I can usually tell by 3-4 days as well on lighter colored eggs, but I like to give 7-10 days just to make sure they weren't sitting in a cool spot in the bator & get a later start. Happened a lot with my still air bators.

Still scratching my head about a name for her, though. And also unsure about the color. Her darker bits aren't black, but they don't look chocolate, either. Could be blue?I hope it's blue! But I'm not sure.

i am laughing so loud at this statement Amykins, I bet they can hear me in Madagascar. you need to have a tv show starring you and Wobbles where he does his thing and you say the funny stuff you usually do.

Funny you should mention that, 'cuz we WERE gonna be on "My Cat From Hell" but they cancelled their Seattle run for some reason. Oh well. :p
