Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

I was not asking how to or if I should candle, I was just mentioning my progress. day 5, 4 really good spider eggs in incubator!:thumbsup

Often I can tell if they're viable at day 3 or 4, but I will usually leave them in few a few more days just in case. Glad you have some good one to work with.

I agree. I can usually tell by 3-4 days as well on lighter colored eggs, but I like to give 7-10 days just to make sure they weren't sitting in a cool spot in the bator & get a later start. Happened a lot with my still air bators.

Or older eggs! Set some really old ones last year and it seemed like they were a couple of days behind the others.

Congrats! Does this person have a specific pen of blue magpies? I have a blue magpie drake and I just totally gave up hope on finding him a magpie girl of his own.

She has one blue bibbed, I think. But her ducklings are a mixed bag since she lets them all run together, so I won't know for sure until she fledges. I don't care what her color is really, I just like to speculate <3 As long as she's happy and bonds with Wobbles, I'll be thrilled!

My emu eggs are on day 64 now! I opened up one yesterday because it was late and showed no signs of life and it was dead... But the other one rocks and rolls when I whistle and passed all tests that it is alive? I think I might have to assist... But the person I got them from said that if you assist it will die...

64 days! Wow! What's normal for them? Are all the eggs as dark shell as in the video? I've never seen one. He looked a little rough with the poor fella, but it also looked like he knew what he was doing. Would be nice to know if they survived and thrived.

If the other one makes it, will it be okay all on its lonesome? Would you perhaps be able to buy a healthy baby from the guy you got the eggs from?
