Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

That's so cool! I just know Bean would be a hit with her adorable blueberry feets <3 And Wobbles IS a standard color, so he's got a good shot, too. I doubt he'd take home the blue ribbon if he were up against James Monk or Art Lundgren's birds, but he'd probably clean up at a county or regional show!
Yeah, for sure!

We might see each other if you go big! And I do as well! I am going to show my ducks this year so if I win big and you do as well that would be cool! There are actually two national call duck shows. One in Michigan and one in Ohio/kentucky (It switches every year between ohio and kentucky)

Isn't she? <3 And as for your "Aussie calls" Fizz, you may have had to start from scratch but I'd say you've single-handedly improved the quality of your flock tenfold! I love those chubby cheeks!

Thank you so much I've been working at it for the last couple of years.

I am very careful about which ducks I keep each year. I am working on getting the size down and the body shape right before I worry about pure colors, I bred a chocolate female this year who is a third smaller than any other bird in the flock but her head shape is bad lots of slope no dome, I'll breed her to my blue fawn male who has a very domed head and risk loosing the chocolate color in the hopes of getting one duckling with both the size and head shape.

Lord knows I might end up with a flock of exceptional mallards but like most Aussie breeders I'm doing my best to improve the breed down here and I appreciate that you have noticed.

The trade embargo can bite us in the bum sometimes. Stateside we're having a semi-crisis with Woma pythons, the few that made it here before the ban aren't enough to carry a stable population, so breeders are at a loss. And it's a real shame, 'cuz Womas are hands down my favorite snake. They act more like puppies than reptiles! But I can see why Australia enacted the ban...the rabbit and sheep problem are kinda obvious symptoms. Although, my clinic recently treated a pet wallaby, so who knows how the heck that one got through.

Spoke to the girl we got Bean from, she's definitely a blue! She's got two blue bibbed, so it looks like lil' Beanie is their progeny. I'm so excited! Blue is my absolute FAVORITE call duck color, and I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd ever have one!
OK, not knowing what a blue call duck coloring is, will her bluing look like a stellar jay's? I bet she will look gorgeous.

Not quite! Ever seen a russian blue cat? It's the same thing. It's like a really pretty cobalt grey. Here's a good example:
