Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

The trade embargo can bite us in the bum sometimes. Stateside we're having a semi-crisis with Woma pythons, the few that made it here before the ban aren't enough to carry a stable population, so breeders are at a loss. And it's a real shame, 'cuz Womas are hands down my favorite snake. They act more like puppies than reptiles! But I can see why Australia enacted the ban...the rabbit and sheep problem are kinda obvious symptoms. Although, my clinic recently treated a pet wallaby, so who knows how the heck that one got through.
Woma's are endangered in Australia so your chances of getting them exported are pretty non existent. Usually we don't have a huge drama with outgoing animals though it's the in-going that is a major drama. For example I could import call duck eggs from the us or the uk BUT I'd have to get a breeder over there to agree to quarantine their flock for a season before I could accept any eggs from them then they have to be hatched and remain in Australian quarantine until they are sure the flock doesn't have anything. To make it economically feasible I'd have to import about a thousand eggs and then each duck, providing all survived would cost around $500.

Oh no! They're endangered?! I didn't know that...that makes my heart ache. Poor snakeys. :( Is it just the pet trade that's responsible, or are the invasive species killing them off? Stupid cats and rabbits. You wouldn't think buns would be aggressive, but I know better.

I know, that ducky is so pretty <3 Bean's facial splotches are a bit different, but they're all in the same places as this one. And best of all, according to the color calculator, all of the offspring she and Wobbles produce will be pied!

Hey, I also had a question for you call duck experts. About how long is the typical breeding season for calls? I'm wondering if once the weather gets cold again if he'll go back to his usual sweet self, or if once puberty hits he'll always be a hormonal maniac. Is he ever gonna stop trying to mate 24/7?
