Oops, wasn't done typing.

So everyone else except 1 has been on the air cell over 24 hours. I got curious and started to investigate. They seemed to have become weaker since first internal pips yesterday. I hatched this one. Sounds congested at first and a lot of fluid was snorted out. I think they're drowning! Mind you they're being incubated at 35% humidity and the air cells seem OK at lockdown. It seems there is a lot of extra fluid and they're not able to get it out of their nares before attempting to hatch. I opened the other 4 or 5 up and put them back to finish. Got the membrane away from their heads and made sure the airway was clear. Praying for the best but figure I'll have to help everyone hatch. One was already gone and it had soooo much fluid in its air ways and throat!

oh man, that's intense. I hope so much the ones you've helped so and then will be helping to hatch will make it OK. Tense...

yep! Once it fluffs out and is mobile it will be great company. I think I also figured out why no one else has hatched!

yep, just as soon as it finishes drying I will. It's back is still wet.

So far so good. 4 I helped that were alive are still 4 alive. Veins are receeding nicely and everyone sounds better breathing wise this morning! Hopefully by tonight we can't hatch them on out.

Oh, thank goodness! Yeah, out of all the calls I've hatched thus far (a whopping six, I know, such an expert) all but one had to be helped out. They don't call it the "call duck challenge" for nothing. Fingers crossed, keep us updated! I'm sure once those veins are gone you can bust those lil' cuties outta there!
