I have a SQ Gray Call Duck. He is so sweet. I have been trying to sell him since I dont have space for him but he is just running with the chickens now haha.

I am new here. Don't own ducks but love them. I do own a pair of zebra finches whom I love very much. I can't own ducks because I rent an apartment. My co worker owns a pekin and Welsh Harlequin and they are precious. He would like a couple of calls. I live vicariously thru him with regard to his girls Kenzy and Mont.

I am getting soooo discouraged looking for some calls. I want Snowies or butterscotch. I am in So California. I just got more eggs shipped to me and again, the air cells are unattached! I will try to let them settle as long as possible before turning them, but my hopes are not high. Any words of wisdom on this?

My husband is making a road trip from CA to PA soon and could pick up ducks some where along his route on his way back...he goes through a lot of states! Last time, I had him pick up a Dachsund puppy in Kentucky

Anybody have any ideas for me?

Almost all shipped eggs are going to have loose air cells. Are yours loose or completely detached and floating all the way to the bottom if you turn the egg over. If they're just loose I use cut toilet paper rolls to hold the eggs upright for the first 5 days. I only rock them from 1 side to the other 3 times a day for that time. After that I candle them and any with life I lay down and hand roll 3 times a day for the duration of incubation. This method has worked really well for me. I have not had any luck with completely detached air cells but I still try the same method. I've heard that they can reattach but I've never had it happen for me. Hopefully you'll have luck with yours

The air cell is ruptured. You can see fluid and large bubbles in the airspace, but it is contained in the large end. I've only personally seen this in the duck eggs that I've bought online. I ship several dozens of chicken and pheasant eggs a week and nobody has ever mentioned receiving any with damaged air cells. Seems it might be more of a problem with duck and goose eggs....?

I gave up on shipped call eggs and finally bought a nice butterscotch pair and had them shipped. I think that price was still less than everything I had spent on eggs!

I just shipped 6 to Ohio and 5 of them are growing beautifully. You can even see pictures on the call ducks finally hatched thread... as long as you don't mind all of our jibarish lol. I've received a couple ruptured air cells when I was hatching my calls last year but most were just loose and were still able to form and grow with no problem. Had several that I received with detached air cells that I never had any luck with. Sorry you're having such trouble with them. Let me know if you want to take me up on my previous offer in my last post.
