Does anyone have a few tips or anything about call ducks?

They are easy to raise. The need clean water daily and enough to submerge their whole bill because of how they eat and so they can clear their nasal passages. They don't need a pond, but it is nice if they get to swim so they can clean themselves.

My first two butterscotch calls hatched! I have 3 more to hatch this week...mommy duck is on her own set...she wasn't setting and these eggs were getting old, so I incubated them. Out of the first 5 I got these two cuties!

Awe!! Do you sell/trade eggs? I'm still trying to get some butterscotch.

This is my first year with them and I plan on hatching them all. They are show quality and I only have the pair. But I'll think about it. What do you raise and are they SQ?

Oh I don't blame you!! I could not curb my addiction and I have over 20. I have a trio of blue pencilled calls from Jim Monk bloodlines. As well as a pair of Jim Monk khakis (really didn't think I would like them as much as I do!!)

My others are mainly breeder quality, I've been thinning out the Juvies.

As a side project I am attempting (with a few friends) to manipulate the magpie gene by creating "spots". So far I've got one really nicely marked hens and four ducklings that are showing good potential. They will be a several year long project though. Have to get the spots how we want them, then breed down to size standards

I want butterscotch mainly for ornamental reasons, but having a good quality pair is always a plus in my book.

A pastel drake that I kept. I'm not happy with his quality at all, but my 7 yr old daughter fell in love with him when he hatched so I can't get rid of him. I think I will sell him this fall and convince her that the other pastel is him. lol
