Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

Thought I would share this with all of you. Loved all the posts in this thread. This is Daffy Duck, a little Mallard duckling found wondering around in a neighbours paddock with Marvin the donkey. No mother or siblings in sight. We have taken Daffy in and he has become a part of our family of rescued birds.

Maybe I should get him/her tested for gender, haven't done that yet.

You should be able to sex them by call and plumage with a bird that age. How old is it? Also, has it ever laid an egg? If so, it's probably female.

Hi, everyone! I have snowy calls that I obtained from mini earlier this year. I LOVE them! I've been reading all I can to learn more about them.

I hatched this girl from them; her head is much darker than the hen's. Anyone know if this is typical? I'm wondering if she will lighten after molt. Sorry for the poor quality pic. She is a firecracker and constantly on the move. This was the best out of about 20 photos. :)

This one is just for fun:

It could be juvenile colours; there's no guarantee that she'll lighten up any as she goes through the molt though.
Either way you've got a pretty bird there!

Ask the duck; otherwise you could be stereotyping it into a gender role it's not happy with

Especially if it's thought all this time that it was a guy-bird. It's probably already developed a bunch of guy traits. It could have emotional conflict with the guy side leaving the nest in a mess and the girl side continually having to put it back in order. Best if Rosecomb finds a ducky therapist before he pursues this further.
