Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

700

Another snowy hen.

My silvers were awesome. A little long in the bill but otherwise tiny and showable. I'm going to see if I can't get another silver drake. As much as I hate to the only person I know who has good ones is the same one I got a bunch of sick ducks from. I might see if I can't get ducklings as what they found during testing on the others was the fact they were infected with salmonella from living in filth.
Eeee, she is cute puffed out on the lawn like that. So sad that person allows his ducks to live in filth. Poor things.

Question... so say one has a pair that's show quality, how many of their offspring will be show quality?

-Kathy
in my experience. 50% if you're lucky. It depends on how long you've been working on that line too. Also how pick you are

FOR SURE! He told me he hatches out more than 700 ducks a year and only keeps about 10 or 20.
I hatch about 1000 birds total a year here, mind you that isn't all ducks, and keep about 50 to 100. That's chickens and ducks total. The snowy I hatched out about 100 one year and kept 7

Wow well let me know if you have some snowy eggs or adults for sale!
I'll have juvies in the fall. I don't do ducklings/eggs on the snowy as they are my true call duck love. I make room regardless in the sportsman for them!

I like art a lot! He only keeps around 100 or 200 birds and keeps trios in pretty big rabbits hutches. He also has A LOT of bantam cochins. I think that's the breed! It is kinda weird though... he keeps dogs in rabbit hutches. He told me he bought a bunch of chihahaus from this horder because he didn't like how they were being cared for so now he just keeps them in unused duck pens and lets them all out at night... Good way to keep away predators. Unless they eat the chuhahaus!
