I'm so sorry for your loss, Clousert...it's so frustrating to have a baby make it out of the shell, only to succumb a few hours later. I wish call ducks weren't so delicate, but I guess if tehy weren't, they wouldn't be so dang cute.

Thanks. I know all about how hard they can be to hatch but you're right, it doesn't make it any easier to lose one. Momma is great but 16 was probably more than she could handle anyway so I guess everything has a way of working itself out.

Yeah. I think it's excellent that you had so many babies make it though, that is one big clutch for any mama duck, let alone a call! I'm so happy that everyone that made it out is doing well. Your hen sure has her webs full.
