Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

I hate to barge in here and make the attention be on me, but

I GOT MY GIRLLLLSSSS!!!! :ya :weee :ya :weee

After that rude girl played games and screwed me over about a billion times, I finally found some somewhere else. They aren't that bad of quality either. A heck of a lot nicer than hers. *puffs out chest*

HERE THEY ARRRREEEE!!!!!!

The run I had to catch them in was VERY muddy, they were covered.

When we got them home, one slipped out of my hands and ran out the garage door. The dogs started chasing her and she FLEW AWAY. I started running after her screaming and bawling like a maniac with no shoes on through the neighbors (that don't particularly like us, they have 9 huskies but that's a different story for a different time) yards. I crashed an outside family dinner of neighbors I've never met. So eventually we gave up looking, my dad leaves to go groundhog hunting and calls and says she's in the neighbor's yard the opposite direction which she flew. We surrounded her, I dove at her with a fishing net, she started to fly, and my dad does this literal NINJA DIVE, CATCHES HER IN THE AIR, and hits the ground (but didn't hurt the duck). It was the most amazing catch I've ever seen, football games included.

So needless to say her wings got clipped the second I got her back to the house along with everyone else and they went in the tub to clean themselves off.

The hard part was picking which one to give to our friend. We drove to Ohio today and got them. 4 for us, 1 for them. We originally were going to get 3, but there was a cute lil gal that we just had to get. We named her Ming Ming (after the Wonderpet). We already have a Tuck, so now naturally we need a Linny. It was so hard to pick which one to give to my friend, but I chose one eventually. One looks kinda young but over mated, so we saved her. I'd say she's a few months old and already her head and neck feathers are sparse and has irritated skin underneath. She's such a sweet thing.

Okay, enough is enough. I could type until my thumbs fell off... I love my 4 new girls. :)

I'll get some individuals of everyone sometime during the week so you guys can see how old they are.
what an epic that was. It stressed me out reading along until your dad got her safely. They are absolutely precious and cute. I am glad you got the little one that was over mated. Now she can have peace. I appreciate all you've done for these innocent little things.

congratulations! That was fun to read!

Best part was crashing the family dinner full of strangers. And no shoes...priceless.

Oh man if Bean flew off I'd run through a sea of glass barefoot to catch her! Give your dad a big hug for me, at his age that could NOT have felt good but man oh man did he ever save the day! Hopefully the neighbors you crashed into are a lot friendly than the ones with a horde of gigantic duck-eating dogs.

Congrats on your new babies. That sure was an ordeal but so glad you got the little one back safely.

Thanks everyone! I feel like I'm glowing! And yes, the neighbors that I crashed their family picnic were very nice, and thankfully the husky owners weren't home.

The job for today is to put legbands on them, I'm thinking different colored zip ties so I can tell who's who.

It's 100% call duck bought from a reputable breeder just forgot to ask what he was  I wasn't even suppose to be getting I went for a hen but came back with him to! The guy has over 100 call ducks it's some setup, I thought maybe blue fawn? He has silver on the wing feathers

Blue fawn was my first thought until I saw you'd said it's a drake. Do you know how old he is? It could still be a young drake that hasn't come into nuptial plumage. Is it possible for you get a similar pic of him in natural light?
