Da' Cute and Cuddly Call Duck thread!

Pics
Do you have other ducks? They are loud. Just a heads up. Boys are really quiet. They all adore water, so be prepared to buy them a nice kiddie pool

Thanks!

In the past we had a trio of Mallards that we bought from our local Tractor Supply. There was some sort of mix up as they turned out to be wild mallards. Once they were old enough they flew around the farm morning and evening and then in the fall, flew away for good. I know they are loud and that's okay. They will have to be loud for us to hear them over all the roosters. We live on an acreage and don't have super close neighbors. The closest neighbors have chickens and ducks, too. My husband is already planning out their new home, complete with sunken pool. Just need to find a breeder and get on the list.

I'll share a couple recent photos of my little girl.

Here she is, asleep standing up in her food dish one night.

And splashing around in her new pool.

I have heard that call ducks can fly away too from the breeder I got mine from. Not sure how true that is.

Good luck with your search :D

They swim in the pool with the Toulouse Geese  My two girls. I only have 2/9 girls. I'm keeping the one above for the drake.

Quote: my chloe can fly, but in 6 years she has never left.....and she has been the call duck we have and she is a free ranger, coming into the house at night, wearing diapers on the days she didnt want to go outside....i gave her a cayuga that we hatched and when he died i bought her a mallard who never gave her any interest. i read somewhere that call duck will fly away before staying alone but as long as she has us and the dogs she is happy. i went to an auction and found her a pastel drake and we are hoping to have babies this spring. she is my favorite pet. good luck finding one...it took me several months to find a mate for chloe.....i m not set up to hatch my own, didnt want to buy ducklings over the internet and didnt want anyone to ship me a drake cuz i thot that would be so traumatizing for the little guy. no breeders near me that i could find.....i got really lucky!

Yes, that duck looks to be a blue fawn.
Since you breed them yourself, which male should I keep? All are males besides the two that look like the last one I posted (blue fawn).

They are still young - 12 weeks, but I have to get rid of all but one male before winter hits. I don't have enough girls to sustain that many.
