Daily Duck Egg Report

I can now join this thread, we got our first duck egg on Jan 9th and found 2 more today so
3 so far. I'm pretty sure they are from my 2- 7th month olds.
I have had 1 egg a day from one of my girls then nothing the last 2 days. She started Jan.7th. Of have 2 other ducks that are being bred every single day but no eggs from them yet, We are in the middle of torrential rain and 90km winds. Temps 49F we have no snow to melt its already gone a few days ago.

She'll start back up it's pretty normal while they are getting the kinks worked out, what are the ages of your girls? Goodness I hope your barn will make it through those winds and rains.

The girl that's laying was born last spring 2013 not sure of the month. The fella we got her from was recovering from a brain aneurysm so couldn't recall. It is really bad out there, morning will be a surprise how much more roof has blown away or caved in. Out an hour ago to shut down still standing and no leaks into the pens. Its 52F right now at 9:45pm! Monday is supposed to be 9 hrs of sun so I'll open everything up to air out.

Check in tomorrow and let us know ya'll weathered the storm.

I will have to post a # tomorrow. I didn't get out there to collect today but as far as I know, eggs are starting to come on quite well and early in 2014. This batch I'm going to hard boil for the dogs!

Regina has made a beautiful nest lined with her own feathers for her 2 little eggs. She is extremely proud. Ive let her keep them...She hasnt laid more, no one has, there was one spare today on the other side of the shed, first one since I let Regina nest.

Im not sure whats going on in there but Im happy to let her go through with this. She is determined to look after these two little eggs! Ive waited 6 years for ducklings....I only got Regina in November I will be blown away if she hatches something.

I collect my 2 campbell's eggs everyday and the muscovy hasn't laid any yet? I seen Mr. Muscovy mating yesyerday for the 1st time with the Mrs and he has for awhile with the campbell's. How do I know when to let them keep their eggs to see if they will hatch them?

They usually let you know, but you have to leave the eggs in the nest so they can build their clutch, but if they will freeze before hand then it's too early. Your Scovy will most likely be your brooder.
