I dont even have to TRY, manI was so very close to saying that-
*cringes*I wrote a whole book titled "Clichéd" because it was all about clichés...
So, what is something you see a lot in movies? A good one is the classic horse movie of a rebellious teenager being sent to a farm and falling in love with a troubled horse and taming it.
That story gave a really cool image of sorts in my head.Heres one for Lacy’s prompt
Also I haven’t written in a while so this might suck
A large presence shifted in the corner of the cavern.
He’d come this far, through the blinding, sweeping sands of the wastes and had stopped to take shelter while the storm passed. It had become apparent, however, that he was not alone.
Laughter. It sounded like uncanny laughter now. Echoing through a throat that was not human, and reverberating through the dark around him.
And then it spoke. A voice like the shifting desert.
“I know you’re here… I know what you are.”
And suddenly the entire blackness erupted into a raging inferno.
Ishren instinctively put his hands across his face, shielding himself from blinding light, more radiant than the sun itself.
The flames poured around him, licking at his body and pealing away his skin and clothes. Agony.
In the midst of the fire he could make out the form of the creature, though by now he’d already guessed.
“Do you think—“ it put its head down to look into his face. He could not move. “—that you are worthy of my soul? It will consume you.” More strange laughter. “They are coming for me. They will come.” It stretched itself up and seemed to fill the cavern with its size. “I am done hiding.”
If any tears were shed, they immediately were burnt way. All that was left was his husk of a body, and still he could only stand, watching and listening. Fear and pain.
And then he opened his eyes.
A dream.
You know, I have a character who's into technology, as he's a hacker, and at some point, he uses the protagonist to unknowingly help him, as the protagonist was working with a company's computer at one time. If I ever need help with anything on that level, I should probably ask you...I just started thinking about electronics in books and...
Every single time I see them mentioned in a way no system I know works by default, it makes me launch into an explanation.
I was reading one book, where it was stated that the main characters went to such and such a place, and the app for said place was auto-downloaded to their home screen.
Android and iOS do not auto download apps on their own like that.
Since I like to keep it realistic, they most likely had some kind of corporate management profile on their phones. It makes no sense to me why else it would auto download.
Oh, also, sometimes you can tell what kind of computer an author uses. One book I read a long time ago mentioned the main character's device being slow, with a "spinning ball" while it was loading. This indicates the author most likely uses Mac. An author who uses a PC would probably mention something about being stuck at the welcome screen or something like that.
I don't know where else rants like this go, so...
Oh also. Windows 11 has the most motivating update screen I've seen. Once upon a time it was spinning and spinning and it told me "You're 0% there", like it was some fantastic achievement.
Heres one for Lacy’s prompt

I wish I could read that book so I could remember what Clichés exist because now that you came up with the prompt I've forgotten all of the Clichés that I know.I wrote a whole book titled "Clichéd" because it was all about clichés...

I actually love the chosen one trope! It could be like
Chosen one MC
Love triangle
Miscommunication
8 foot tall guy with purple eyes
Etc
I'm not laughing because it's bad but because I read this whole thing trying to figure out which cliché this was supposed to be, until I got to the end XDHeres one for Lacy’s prompt

I wrote it a few years ago, but I probably should return to it someday and try getting it published. It was more focused on the princess movie clichés as the main characters were seeking a "prince in shiney armor" only to get Freaky Franky chucked at them. If I do return to it, I definitely want to study clichés more to better write the ones that's in it, as well as include a lot more than I did.I wish I could read that book so I could remember what Clichés exist because now that you came up with the prompt I've forgotten all of the Clichés that I know.
