Dairy goat showers I need your opinion!

Okay, I recently got into showing dairy goats, while my friend shows market You know how for like showmanship we have to do a bunch of different moves, and transitions, well I just learned that people who show market dont!? I was so confused, but later she told me that market is harder to show, and I was like Whaaaaa—?!!? NO! I am sorry to anyone who shows market, but his girl said that yall just walk around in circles. I told her about all the different things we have to do. I am sorry, but why do people show market goats? It not to be rude or anything I am just genuinely curious. 1. Most people dont eat boers, 2. Meat is meat.. Why do you show it off. Anyways I was like, at least you dont have to memorize 2 SCORECARDS!!! Yall Im sorry, but really if anyone has ever showed dairy and or market please give your opinion on the 2 because I just wanna know 1. Which is harder to show, and 2. Why people show market.

People show market goats for the same reason people show market sheep. What do you mean people don't eat Boers?

I mean most people who eat meat goats try to find the cheapest one possible not the one who has the best genes or most muscle mass. People definitely do eat them, but its not nearly as common as just any other cheap goat.

I don’t think that’s true either. People are willing to pay for quality. At least around here. Maybe not where you are. But even where you are, I bet nobody is buying, say, a dairy goat or something for meat over a Boer just because it’s cheaper lol

Idk what area you are in but where I am we have had people come to our door just to ask if they can kill one of our goats, on our property just for meat. I truly am no trying to offend people who show market I am just genuinely curious. Ill be 100% honest if I had market goats I would probably show them too. I am just kind of confused.

And it’s not offended. I don’t even have any livestock hahaha

But I just find it interesting and I am also very confused about the person asking to kill your goats

Boers are pretty popular here. I think there’s a big breeder in Connecticut because I see Boers all over Craigslist LOL

Yes, it was about 5 years ago, and we had a nubian, and some muslim came, and said he would give us $20 if he could butcher that goat on our property…

People show meat goats because of the livestock auction. They want the goat to show well so they get the highest possible bid for their meat goat. And people or businesses will bid high for a few reasons. They want to help the 4H kids out, a lot of them use the money to help pay for college. And it's a tax write off. We are a huge 4H and fair county, people will spend crazy amounts of money on meat animals. I'm talking $400 for a pair of meat chickens, I can only imagine it would be in the thousands for a meat goat or two
