I let my two older Appleyards free range, they come out of the Quack House first and go directly to the pond while the three younger females stay in an outdoor pen. Yesterday and today Daisy, the older female, has been running from the pond to the pen and going around and acting she wants to get in.

Today I opened the gate and Daisy went directly to her nest inside the Quack House and just settled in? Sir Quacks-a-Lot was in the outdoor pen with the younger females and they seem to be getting along a lot better than 10 days ago.

Question: Is Daisy going brooding? She is pulling straw from around nest and building it higher it seems.

What should I do if she is going brooding?

Is she being protective towards her nest? I'm not an expert like some people are, but I can help other people to come and help you. Does she have any eggs in her nest? Maybe she just really needed to lay and so she tried to go back inside to lay her egg. I don't know, I'm not an expert so if there are people who know I'm wrong please correct me. How old is she?

If she is broody, I would make sure and block off a corner for her away from the others, but don't put food right next to her, water either. She needs exercise when she's broody. Good luck, and have a great day!

Do you know if she had already laid this morning before you let her out? Or did she lay after you let her back inside?
She hasn't laid any eggs for a few days now. She is back off her nest and begging to get out of the pen and into the pond. When I opened the gate she ran out unlike when she walks out in the morning? Also, she was protective of her nest, when I looked in the door she hissed at me.
