Hello all How is everyone? Is there anyone in or near McKinney in the Dallas area? How is the heat treating your chickens.... Well mine are hot but making it.....anyone on here near my area?

I'm close to ya! I had one young roo not make it a couple weeks ago due to heat but other than that all my girls and boys are doing great. What breeds do u have?

The heat is horrible today right! I have heritage breed Plymouth Barred Rocks from the Good Shepard line and production PBR and RIR and Buff and Lavander Orpingtons? I am in McKinney what do you feed?

I'm feeding a 20% feed right now to increase production along with free choice oyster shell and scraps. Mine are all free ranged daily as well. They seem to be doing goo with it. I've began putting frozen water bottles in their water tub to help them and in the heat of day serving them frozen fruits n veggies. I have a mix flock of barred rock (bantam and LF) , Easter eggers, bbs cochins, polish, isbars, one buff orp, a jersey giant and blue and black ameraucana. We r in the process of building our separate pens for next year. I would love to see your lav orps!

Doing practically the same. Are you feeding organic or standard? In fact I have some cockerels for trade! I have a Good Shepard line PBR cockerel for trade and a 11 week Lavender Orpingnton for trade! They are both from the The Country Hatch in Iowa and she has heritage birds with Greta bloodlines! Google it and I can send pictures of each my phone is 972-838-7448 I can text you pictures they are both 11 weeks! I am looking for laying hens

Hey slick, glad to see another local! VW, I've got many cockrels right now I'm trying to thin them. I have several 12wk pure blue and black ameraucanas and three EE's. Also an adult bantam barred boy. Still would love to c those lavendars tho I'm feeding standard...wish I could find some less expensive organic. You?

-live just south of Denton, TX. It is a scorcher out there. -have fans blowing on both coops and a mister suspended from my large red oak tree. The group is managing to keep cool. -have been lounging in a flower bed and dust bathing in the shade, and seeking some cool underneath the knockout roses and star jasmine. -'bout to go add some more ice to their water. Whewwww.
