Our neighbor's roo who is the sweetest bird I've ever seen, got caught in a fence trying to get into the goat feed.

They found him hanging on the fence by one leg after I called and said he hadn't come over for a couple of days to get his breakfast and visit with my chickens. '
They have no idea how long he was hanging there.

So they got him loose and put him in the barn for 3 days in a box. He was eating and drinking.

Finally he got out of the box yesterday and was wondering around the back 40 but......

His left foot toes are very curled and he can seem to jump up on anything.

He is talking a alot and eating and drinking.

They brought him over here (because he lives over here most of the time and I have him isolated in our small side run.

I taped the foot right below the spur to give him some support but what I'm wondering is if it's a tendon pull will it heal or is this foot going to stay curled?

He doesn't seem to be hurting or suffering. Just crippled.

Will this get better or can he live out his life with this crippled foot?

I thought I would keep him penned about a week as he seems so vunerable right now. We have lotsa! predators. I just want to make sure he has all his strength back. He seems to be enjoying the run as he's right next to my Henry and all the girls. The 2 roos (Henry and Russell) have been crowing for about 30 minutes now and seem content.

Oh he has straw. 2 roost that are short (for my little ones), sand to dust bath in and a box to sleep in, plus feed, water, and the "chicken salad" (no chicken in it, just lots of goodies) I make for mine. He should be comfortable.
Thanks for replying and giving me some hope for him.
