I have managed to get rid of the maggots using Permethrin cream. Yesterday eve. I spent time tweezing off hundreds of maggots of all shapes and sizes. So gross! I felt so sorry for him. He was very lethargic and he let me attend to him 'tho he must have been in terrible pain. It happened so quickly-he was fine in the a:m but by evening he was a mess-covered in black diarhea with what appeared to be missing skin eaten by maggots. I could see what seemed like hundreds of tiny ones under the surface of his remaing skin writhing around-horrible. I pray they were killed by the permethrin. I washed him again today and did not see any live ones but, I am concerned they could be now internal. My question is what do I do for his black what appears to be missing sking? I am afraid to touch him there for fear of hurting him further. He was lively this morning but after his bath he had no energy & has spent the day sleeping off and on in the house. I am giveing him tetracycline as that is all I have. I plan on giving him Ivermectin later for dinner. He ate a small amount of mash & medicine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Keep his belly clean and maggot free. I'd slather on some plain antibiotic ointment and probably cover it with telfa pads and wrap gauze on to keep it in place.

Hopefully they have not worked their way inside but i think the ointment might smother them.

Can you get photos of the wounds?

You will want to repeated soak and clean the wounds to make sure the maggots are gone.

Apply ointment as suggested to wounds.
