You all have helped me so much with my Rooster hopefully you can give me some advice on my hen. No worry she is doing great. The problem is her feathers are starting to come back in and I am sure if I sould pluck the out or leave them? I just don't want then to get in the way of her healing. The 1st is of her back and the 2nd is of her side.View attachment 4024497View attachment 4024503
Let them grow, I wouldn't pluck them.

I'm glad she's healing up really well. How is Mr. Rooster doing?

The Rooster is doing really well he is eating and drinking on his own 👐. He still is having some trouble with his beak but it is doing better. He has one eye fully open and the other he is still just cracking open. He has a lot of energy now crowing every morning and always going over to see the hen. I let them out of there kennels when I clean them so they can stretch out more. Don't worry if they are out together they are being very closely supervised.
I will continue to give updates. Thanks so much to everyone for your advice and support.

I'm glad to hear he's doing well too!

I think it's wonderful that both can be out together for a while each day and move about. It's good for them.

I have been trying to think of some "fun" enrichment for them if anyone has some that they have done or have seen please share. I am sure they are bored been stuck in kennels most of the day. Thanks so much and I am sure the Hen and Rooster would thank you too. 😁

That's a tall order!🤣

He's still having trouble with his beak right? Thinking of something HE can do, since most entertainment involves food.

For the hen, you could hang a leaf or two of Kale in her kennel for her to pick at. They like to tear of pieces and it's yummy. He may be able to reach an tear off pieces. Leaf Lettuce might be a bit easier to pick at if he's having troubles.

Tomato is always something they enjoy working on. My girls love to pick at apples and cabbage too, but the beak must be strong and working well.

Hopefully someone else has better suggestions. I'm sure they are bored, but if they do get out once a day to interact and talk with one another that is helpful too.

Hi there, sorry it has been a little bit since my last update.
Not much has changed for the Rooster. He is still doing good eat and drinking but still has one eye closed.🤷‍♀️
The hen is doing good her wounds are healing up really well. She has even stared laying eggs, that was a big surprise 🥚😲. I am a little worried about her poo as it very wet. I am wondering if I should dose he with Corid?
Here are some pics of the hen now and before.

Can you get photos of her poop?

I'm glad she's recovering nicely and has begun laying eggs.
What is her diet? Watery poop can be due to drinking a lot of water or diet, so consider what she's eating.

Corid won't hurt her, it's a Coccidiostat.

Can you get the rooster's eye open at all?

Hi there,
The hen poop has been better lately but i will get a pic later today. Thanks
The Roosters will crack the eye some but still not all the way. Yes we are able to open it and the eye looks ok.

Hi all,
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back. I started putting the hen and Rooster out in dog kennels by the chicken coop during the day. They all have been enjoying it. The Rooster has opened his other eye up other o er half way now. So I decided to put him back in the coop this evening with my littel hen( the one that was unharmed). They where both very excited lol. But I am continuing to keep the other hen separate for now. Though she is healing up quite nicely and almost completely healed now. Not all of her feathers have come back yet. I have had this happen before and hen never got her feathers backs so the roosters would end up cutting her open when he mounted her. I ended up having to remove her. Any recommendations for chicken vest that would help prevent that?
Thank you everyone 💓
