I guess it depends on if you get the show type or the kind that still have flying in them. They originated as a flying breed, and a lot of flying breeds are skittish until you take the time to tame them. Easier to get young birds/babies.

I like the look of them but wish they were bigger like the size of a Modena. I love Large breed pigeons.

I just found this thread and don't know if someone will notice this.... I have a damascene male and he's huge.... he's excellent flyer and all damascenes here are... I live in the middle east and everyone here use them as flyers... and good they are... and it depends on how they were raised to be skittish or not... mine is not that skittish but keeps it's diatance... and they are really common here... maybe the most popular abd beautiful pigeons... we all love them and noone doesn't have at least one or tow...

Old posts, but does anyone in the states have and breed Damascenes? I'm hoping to get pigeons in the spring. Thanks.
