i was awaked at three AM this morning by a ear piercing scream form my guinea's. Looked all over and didnt see any thing, got to walking around an this darn possum started waddling off, if it hadnt have rained I would have chased it and caught it and ended his raidings. Did see he had grabbed one of the smaller keets, but I think he will be ok I will look at it at first light. Looks like I will be practicing my deadfall skills again.
Any of you got some ideas other deadfalls that might be more effective.

paiute trigger works better then most others you may check your game laws deadfalls are not legal in a number of states possum are not the brightest of creatures they are fairly easy to catch with snares ,cages, coil spring or long spring traps

Well i have a number of tricks up my sleeves for dealing with these bugers, but the dead fall is one of the least obviuos. I now have my neighbors cats stopping by twice a day who knows how many times during the night.
I have noticed the birds being more skitish this last week. I havent had a light on at night for them. They also seem to have been sleeping next to the fence at night while the light has been off.
The nice thing is that next month is the opening of Kansas traping seson. I intend on bringing the wrath upon these critters. I just hope the neighbors cats stay away fro these 220 conabears

you might look into building coni boxes they have a recessed opening , virginia use them for conis on land if they are baited . normally if domestic's are around I would use cage traps and take the feral cats to the pound.

I only have 9 chukars right now and quite a few quail I am trying to keep pests away from

now there is a trap i totaly forgot about. That way i can show the neighbors that their animal is at the coop while is still in the box. Then warn them that the next time it will be in the pound....... Man thats great... I cant believe that slipped my mind... Thanks for triggering that. When i was a kid we used to catch coons and rabbits that way.
