d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

I think the friends that we farm-sat for are going to want three or four chicks back (guess I did a good job as they were very pleased when they came to visit them!) They know that Gazpacho, a cockerel is my son's favorite. I wanted to pick out one of the girls to keep in case they say we can have two (originally they said they only wanted two back, but might give others to friends who lost birds.) Technically, these are their birds I am raising, and I'm okay with giving them all back if they want them - they did tell me that these were the ONLY eggs EVER to hatch from the parents in all the time that they have had them. My question is, how do I pick out which girl I want? What do I look for? They are all happy, healthy, friendly, and spoiled. Judging by how their other chickens are treated, they are not going to get the individual attention that we give to them. Any suggestions? They are Quail D'Anvers.

post some pics, or go back a few pages and look at the comarison shots of good and not so good ones. There are 6=7 post at least about what to look for in them.

If you do get a chance, shoot some pics up here. It'll be easier to compare side by side of your actual birds and give you a better idea on them that way.

Oh, Aubrey, guess what? My Silver Phoenix pullet laid her very first egg today at the age of 20 weeks and....drumroll, please.... it was FERTILE! Your little goofs are about to turn 16 weeks old and they are already getting it done. I think it's Aubrey, too. He was supervising Molly's choice of nests and accomanying her into the coop, watching her, even going into a nest to sit and show her how it's done, LOL.
