SOON I HOPE!

Been waiting on good full tails to finish up coming in on everybody. The d'anvers are pretty much there, the phoenix are what's taking so long ( haha for obvious reasons) Guess I could make it easy on myself and go on and do the d'anver. Wouldnt be so much to try to do all in one day.

If we have a good sunny day this weekend, may try to go one and do that. Those phoenix will take for ever

well for one, you just dont see millie d'anvers much anyway. So, the gene pool is very limited. On a proper one they'll just be there. It's just part of the mottled pattern. If you have one that are over 2 and still not showing it, either cull them for lack of pattern, or breed them to perfect pattered hens is the only way to deal with it.

get worried and usually quarantine them immediately if not better in a week, they get whacked. Try some broad spectrum antibiotics on them, any of the "mycins" or tetracycline's help. If it's just a cold. I worry about MG with it cause if it's that ( CRD) it is not curable, will spread like wild fire and will be carried by all birds who get it. Most will recover from it, but by being carriers of it, they will spread it to all new comers and it will pop back up in them too later on in times of stress.

Dont freak out just yet though. It is common this time of year for birds to get symptoms like this. Dose them up good and see what happens, but if they dont get better soon, well... depends on how big a gambler you are. Watch for eye swelling. MG will often clog the sinus walls and cause them to swell. Looks like the eye is swelling but it's actually the tissue under the eye. IF you see that, 99% shot it's MG....CULL THEM!!

Hope it's not and is just a winter cold.

Its (silver quail) already quarentined in a building with the 4 other ones I got in ohio. Started anti biotics so I will keep them on the meds for a week and see what happens. Hopefully it not serious.

Not so great to hear??? Yes do do that, as long as they are kept well away from the others and any food or water bowls they had are bleached out good, you should be ok with the others. If you have some, it wouldnt hurt to give some antibiotics to all your birds for a week or so, just as a preventative. Sure hate the silver's one of them. Hoping it's just a cold type thing for you
