That's right Cynthia,
your message had left me a bit confused Whittni, But no, a bird is not classed as show quality until it is fully grown and developed. Anyone who tells you other wise is lying.
Eggs, chicks, and even started birds can not be labeled as such because honestly you just have no idea.
I can sell show quality adults in the fall, but you'd be looking at $100- $200 a pair minimum some more than that plus $80 or so in box and shipping.

This is where buying chicks from SHOW LINES helps. You narrow down the odds of more chicks being show quality or at least breeder quality. You'll still get some duds from time to time, but the odds are more in favor of good ones this way...

HAHA
I had a guy e-mail me the other day wanting eggs, but he wanted me to pick out just 2 eggs to send him that would be a show quality pair when they grew up... kinda hard to do that...

no problem Pokey,

got you down for a notice. Yes I know Travis Anders. He's a good guy and has some nice birds. I've seen the pic you are talking about. some of My whites actually came from him.
The blue is pretty on them... will PM you the details when the time comes, March most likely, I still have to set up a breeeding pen for that color again, doing something a little different right now with them. Blue silver gingers

Were you supposed to just look at the eggs and tell what was going to come out of them, not only the sex, but the quality? Neat trick, Aubrey! You could take that show on the road and make some serious money!

Oh well in that case *ahem*

I want 6 show quality eggs 3 pair please. 1 blue cuckoo, 1 dun cuckoo and 1 porcelain because I am picking up My Little Love and Aimee when Cynthia stops breeding them for eggs so I will be set. How much do those show quality egg pairs run Aubrey? I knew you were good but dayum you are truly amazing...I am duly impressed and humbled in your thread now for sure. *smiling*

do you mean fresh eggs? Or brooded ones?

Brooded are fine as long as the hens stays on them
Fresh are fine as long as it's not a hard freeze. It's been in the teens here at night this week, all are still fine, but I dont leave them out over night either.
If you get them daily, and your temps arent below freezing for a long time during the day, they are still fine.
