The roo's will have their ruffle around their neck and do the cancan with both feet.

Laura Lee you owe us pic's of your BBB chicks, I do believe.

My mom always told me I have "2 little sense".

Here is Wee-Man, who I will admit is not quite the bodied up style of bird needed for strong showing competition. He is fearless though. Love his attitude. He placed 3rd in a class of 3 cocks.

Reposting this pic of him:

And this is his son - who placed 2nd in a class of 6 cockerels. His poor tailfeathers got damaged in travel.

nope, that's my silver quail, totally unrelated

Dun is a chocolate looking color based on the dominate white gene.
It acts just like blue does to a bird. It covers the black feathers in a chocolate brown. Also like blue it can come in many shades, from pale smokey grey to dark brown to a dull black.
Also like blue, it doesnt breed true, it makes black, dun and khaki
Khaki is a bird that carries two copies of the dun gene, just like splash in blue has two copies of the blue gene.

IT IS NOT to be confused with true chocolate, that is a totally different gene seldom seen in the US, it is sex linked and recessive, but breeds true when both parents have a copy of it, unlike dun which does not.

For a dun quail
here's a pic

not the best, but note how the tail is not bright glossy black, same in the hackle and saddles

here's a dun quail hen, note no black at all on her

this is a double dosed dun which makes the paler khaki color in the black areas.

That's cool to hear. If you dont mind me asking, what are you going to outcross with to introduce dominate white into them? I have seen these in Belguim before.
Had considered making some myself, already have dominate white going on a couple of crosses, but wanted to wait til the current project was complete. That way I could just use pure d'anvers to continue with dominate white based projects. Want to do it to my buff columbians too for basically a white tailed buff.

I have also seen lavender based quail before from Europe which look awesome. Plan to work on them soon too. Basicly they look porcelain body colored with a pale blue tail... pretty nice. Good luck on the white quail project. If you need any advice, feel free to ask!
