d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

I have three porcelains Roo and two pullets. I was just wondering since they have MF in their genetics if there would be some Mille Fleurs and Porcelains in the offspring.
Thinking the MF genetic would pop out some younguns......

just an extra note on it.

this is for Cole too on what I had mentioned on his breeding of them.

IF you go mille lav split to mille lav split

you get 1/3 porcelain
1/3 mille split for lavender
and 1/3 normal milles

Reason for this ratio is the same as above. Split's only give a copy of their split gene about 50% of the time.

so on the occation they both gave a gene you get porcelain
on the occation only 1 gave a gene you get another split
and on the occation neither gave a gene you just get a mille.

Kind of an odds game. No set rules to how nature works, you could get a run of all porcelains if the gods lined up right for you. But this is just an average of what and how to expect the breeding to go. Kinda no different than guessing how many roos will hatch verse pullets.

only bad thing about this way, is on your milles, you wont know who is split and who isnt then. Breeding would be the only way to know, but still not 100% sure unless you breed it to a porcelain to test. If you get any porcelain back, you know that mille is split

Thank you Aubrey. That made perfect sense and I've copied it to my breeding folder.

I have more roos than pullets and will be picking some pairs for breeding pens.
I have a Buff Columbian pair but will have to put up some pictures for advice on pairings for the others.

oh, I got ya.

no porcelain to porcelain is always 100% porcelain.

porcelain is a mille fleur, it just has lavender in it.

Just like gold neck is a mille fleur that just has dominate white in it.

on a porcelain, each parent has 2 copies of lavender already, so they will each always give 1 copy of it to all offspring, therefore you will be getting chicks with the 2 needed copies of lavender to make them a visible porcelain.

sounds good, post away, I'll be glad to help you out on it if I can.

If the buffs came from me, haha some of them can be split for mottled. If that matches up you'll get more milles out of those too haha

next step, all a mille is is a mottled buff columbian,

take the mottled out of a mille fleur and you are left with columbian

Breeding pairs.....Advice

Buff Columbian

Not sure what the front one is...thinking Buff Columbian (?)

one of two Porcelain pullets above with Porcelain cockerel..running while free-ranging

Mille Fleurs...there are three cockerels..two shown here..far right bottom and first d'Anver on the left top roost

and one pullet on the bottom roost bar

Not sure what the middle one or the one on the right ...may be a Ginger and the one on the right may be a lighter version (?)

As for the girls...Left pullet..Ginger (?) and the one on the right could be Buff Columbian

Same girl on the right..picture of her back...Is this Columbian or something else?

I do have a black pullet and LilGuy, the black cockerel

Don't think I ended up with any BB Reds...Cockerels or pullets

I do have some OEGB pullets that might be used in breeding with the d'Anvers, but don't know for sure which cockerel would be best.

Buff Columbian in the first picture...far left top roost
An Opal in the 5th picture to the right of the Porcelain
A White pullet...not shown...much smaller although the same age.
Silver Blue

I got some more questions.

Is this what a golden neck chick looks like? Pullet?

Brown red?

Finally, I have this one. I believe it hatched from a cuckoo or a black egg. Has gold leakage in the hackles, a little gold lacing in the breast, and a few white spots on the ends of some feathers. Any chance it is a birchen of some kind?

JJ, I have a goldneck pullet that looks just like that one you possted. My male goldneck has much more white and almost no pattern on the chest, He is changing alot, but doesnt lok at all the same. I have another goldneck pullet that is a much better pattern. I will try to get pictures this weekend.
