d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Big Congratulations on the Porcelain chickie...adorable. And love Mina's colors!

Here is Miss Piggy and Spike
her current roo

Didn't I do a nice job lining up those two pictures

And here is part of rooster row....there are nine roos working out their differences since I busted up the other pairs. Wasn't getting good fertility in the incubator. Will try Miss Piggy with Spike and see if there is any improvement. If not, will not incubate eggs again until spring....unless Aubrey has some to send before it gets too cold.

All the boys will run with the big flock again once they get along. Will end up culling the extra OEGB boys...had 5 roos and one little pullet. She just needs one man.

Thanks! That is biologically Mina's baby, but Aimee is the broody mama. Mina is broody, but has no eggs. Two broodies in that coop was enough and Mina is a first timer so I didn't want to take a chance on her.

The second baby, also out of Mina, is a Mille Fleur. So between Molly and Aimee's broods, there is one Aimee baby and three Mina babies, but only one of Mina's is porcelain. At least that tells me that Mina is a split for sure. Aimee's chicks are almost always pullets, but also, almost always have feather stubs on the legs or actual leg feathering-this one looks to be positively furry.

And, of course, since Mina is a split for sure, I know that the three mille fleur babies from Mina are all 3/4 porcelain.

Spent all day trimming toe nails, banding, and blood testing. I had about twelve chickens last spring, where did all these come from?

Oh and look what I found among my millie pullets, I been looking for one of these.

Is this the test where you sample 5% of your flock? Then if they test clean and you have no symptoms you no longer have to test but every 5 years.
I have to do this test once a year and have the state vet test 30 birds for AI every 6 months to maintain my NPIP AI clean status. This allows me to show birds with out getting tested for every show and to ship eggs and birds with out a lot of paper work.

Is Spike a buff columbian or a Ginger red?
