d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Evening all.

I havent been on BYC in awhile. I am getting a tad excited, my goldneck girls are laying and I have been able to mark the eggs, well I have one egg hatched. Not sure but I think it is a goldneck, i am hoping th eothers will hatch too. Its really light right now, and not fluffy yet, but it is not a millie, i expect it to be by my porcelain roo, but it could be out of the goldneck roo. so goldneck or a split to lavander.

as soon as it gets fluffy I will be getting a picture.

Would have drained it if I thought it was fluid filled, but it was obviously all bruised and black under the skin and very hard so didn't seem like infection, which it, of course, wasn't. Hated to lose a beautiful pullet like that, but every experience adds to the head knowledge and hopefully, will help someone else. Makes you wish you had a home xray machine, eh?

Even manipulating and palpating the leg didn't elicit much reaction from Leah, only when I got up into her hip area did she flinch and cry out, so it just didn't seem to be a broken leg, at least not down the bone like it was. A real puzzler, this one was.
That is SO sad! Sorry you lost her

Thank you, chickee. Congrats, KrisH!

JJ, is that pullet part Pyncheon? She's a cutie! Reminds me of the trio I called my Poufy Head Sisters. Sure miss those hens-they've gone on to that final Roost in the Sky.

congrats Kris, hatched 3 today myself.
They'll look white and orange down color wise.

also hatched some buff, lavender silver quail and lavender mottled finally

Aubrey, definitly white looking maybe a touch of orange on thehead, but it is veryfaint. I am so excited, I just dont know if it was the goldneck roo or porcelain roon over the girls.

still waiting on th eother eggs to hatch, at least 2 more that I know are Goldneck hens eggs. The goldnecks like to lay their eggs in the feeder.
