d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

not sure how because there's no way the goldnecks have lavender in them, they guy that made them doent have them, but that is almost 100% possitive a porcelain. You can see the blue tint to the wings and neck which is always a sign of a porcelain.
Sure you didnt have any porcelain hens around when this one was laid? could just be the light too. I should have 1 or 2 hatching this weekend. I'll try to take a pic if I think or it when they hatch for you.
But they should be orange and white down on the goldnecks.
Now if some how you got a dominate white porcelain that would be sweet!!!

and yes if you have too much mottling on the goldnecks, then breed them to millies if the milles are better marked. You'll get 50/50 of each color from them. If you have males and females of both, just swap mates for them all and have 2 breeding groups. It'll give you new blood lines to work with as well as help the over all pattern of them. Got any pics of all the adults now? Would like to see them. Maybe I can tell you the best way to breed them from that based on the color and patterns to them
Yeah, It really looks porcelain to me I could see the grey in his back and wing tips., and the only porcelain hen I had died Dec 20, and this egg was collected and marked once I realized that the goldneck was laying her eggs in the feeder. I actually watched her lay that egg and collected it after and marked it. So I know it is her egg.

So if my porcelain boy is dominate white, could this hatch happen? can I have a porcelain chick?

I will get pictures of them for sure this weekend. Hubby has agreed to help me.

porcelain for sure after seeing the other pics.

no porcelain cant carry dominate white. If they have the gene they express it, it cant be carried as a split like recessive genes .
the goldneck "could" however carry lavender which would make a mille a porcelain. But that should be impossible from the breeding done. All I ahev gotten from mine are goldnecks or millies. I never bred them last year to the porcelains, and I know the breeder who made the goldnecks, he didnt have porcelains, so you got me there hahaha. Either way, that's a porcelain chcik for sure.

If it carried dominate white though, It wouldnt have the blue in it's down. all that would be covered by the white, so it's be cream and white instead of cream and blue... keep us posted on the pics as it grows, curious to see what comes of this little bugger!

Thanks Aubrey, All I have in the pen is the 8 Millie hens 2 goldnecks hens and the 2 roosters. Any chance, one of the millies would be split to lavander and that I coulod have missed marked the eggs? Trying to figure out any way I cold get a porcelain chick hatch at all with my group.

Well I have more of their eggsto put in the incubator tomorrow (only setting the goldneck ones). So now I am curious as to what else I get from the eggs. Now the ones I am collecting are definitly one of the goldnecks not sure which of the 2, unless I catch her, then I will mark the egg with her band #.

Maybe in 22 days I will have more of them to hatch, sure wish the others I had did.

I'm considering phasing out of the bantams, for the most part, Aubrey. I adore my original three hens and Lucy, and could never get rid of them, but I think I may end up selling Aubrey, Mina, and the three remaining youngsters, Spike, Sam and Maura, and moving my elderly laying hens into that coop with the little bantam hens I keep. Cetawin may take a couple of them, but if someone wants a heck of a porcelain breeding rooster, my Aubrey would be their man and Mina is a beauty. He's turning 2 years old in April. I'm just having to make some decisions about my coop spaces and what I can maintain on a daily basis, trying to consolidate and evacuate one of the buildings that houses my older hens (who are currently rooster-less and have earned that).

It just came to me yesterday that I wasn't really enjoying them that much right now and I wanted to make a change. It's not an easy decision, because even though your namesake can be a little snotrag at times, he sure is some eye candy! Of course, I could change my mind at any moment, lol. I have a hard time letting go of any birds I hatch and raise here.

now if they are all my milles, yes there could be a split lavender one in there. I got them from a guy who did a little crossing on them to fix and improve, and I have done it as well in the past, so it is possible for one of them to be split lavender.

Got a bunch of chick pics I just took too, will post them in a minute

well dang, hate to hear that, but like JJ said, I too fully understand.
If you need homes, I'll take back any of the clean legged ones for sure, especially a good porcelain rooster... hope you reconsider, but you have to do what's right by you too.
We'll always have you some more here if you get where you want them back later on too...

Here's some chick pics I took for everyone to see differences in down color. Some normal stuff, some are the off the wall ones I'm working on. Mainly this group is for the various versions in mille fleur and in mottled, with a couple odds and ends tossed in. Realized I was a bit too close on some of them once I loaded the pics, little blurry, but I'm too lazy to dig 'em all out again. You can get the idea at least. Tried to get a side shot and a above shot for best idea on the colors

normal mille fleur

what should be a silver mille fleur ( my first one)

isabella columbain ( lavender version of a buff columbian
same pattern as a porcelain but these have the duckwing head and back stripes

you can see the faint blue stripes here

goldneck

can be any variation of those two, but most are like the lighter one on the right. They always have a gold face though

porcelain

note the lighter face as on milles and lack of back stripes that the columbians have

black mottled

can have various amounts of white

dun mottled

blue mottled

solid dun
well actually a dun cuckoo, but if I dont show you the white head dot, it's a solid pattern haha

and the prized little F2 buffs

solid even color all around on them
