d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

The only thing is that Aubrey is 2 yrs old and hasn't been handled that way. He'll probably take a chunk out of a judge's arm. Would be better to breed them and raise up some for show, I'd say.
You would be surprised how much a roosters demeanor changes in the show hall. They don't have long enough to lay claim to their cage so they don't defend it.....most of the time.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to keep the roo from attacking? He doesn't it multiple times now & if I wasn't wearing pants he might acomplish something. It really doesn't feel good either. I want to keep him, but if things don't change he'll have to go

The best thing I have found is to pick them up and carry them around. If you try and ward them off or defend your self then they think you are fighting back and I think it makes them worse. If you do nothing then they won and will do it again. Then some will never change.

mine like that have ended up being silver quail on the dark side, but they have something else going on for sure. That aint quail patterning in the down for sure. With luck, I'm back breeding the ones like that for a shot at the duckwings. If that dont work I'll just breed them to the bb reds. I know that will finish them off. I'd mark them for sure so you can keep up with which ones they were

haha try JJ's approach, best bet, haha throw the feed threw the fence... they can be ankle bitters for sure. But I get flogged 100 times a day, they dont hurt, me at least. just an annoyance. Be sure to keep the spurs dubbed once he gets good ones though. Some are just rear ends, others never even look at you....

I have to go in there thoug. I take my bunny in & out & right now I have a hen seperated in there that I have to mess with & if they decide to lay eggs on the ground again. I tried the holding thing. once I put him down he got on the ground & then was about to attack & then just stopped. He stands down to a Bantam Cochin, but picks on a big giant!! it kills me ha ha

haha I was joking about that. Best advice is dont turn your back to him. on mine, 9 times out of 10 they wont pop you if you are looking at them, they wait and get you from behind...
